Viloxazine (Qelbree) and Ketamine Therapy | Tovani Health
Qelbree (Viloxazine) — Norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (non-stimulant ADHD)
Verdict at Tovani Health
Compatible; cardiovascular load is what we track, similar to atomoxetine.
Viloxazine and ketamine are compatible. Same considerations as atomoxetine (Strattera): viloxazine raises BP and HR similarly to stimulants, and that load stacks with ketamine's transient pressor response. The non-stimulant designation refers to abuse potential, not to cardiovascular profile.
If you take Qelbree regularly and are considering at-home ketamine therapy, the combination is safe with monitoring or dose adjustment. This page covers the brief pharmacologic context and what we do at intake.
How Qelbree interacts with ketamine
Viloxazine is a selective norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor with some 5-HT2C agonism and 5-HT2B antagonism. Cardiovascular effects are similar to atomoxetine. Modest CYP1A2 and CYP2D6 effects but no meaningful ketamine PK impact.
What we do at intake
Disclose dose. Baseline BP check, especially in the early weeks of therapy. We may ask about other cardiovascular medications.
Bottom line
Viloxazine and ketamine are compatible. Same considerations as atomoxetine (Strattera): viloxazine raises BP and HR similarly to stimulants, and that load stacks with ketamine's transient pressor response. The non-stimulant designation refers to abuse potential, not to cardiovascular profile.
