Leuprolide (Lupron) and Ketamine Therapy | Tovani Health
Lupron (Leuprolide) (also: Lupron Depot, Eligard, Fensolvi) — GnRH agonist (prostate cancer, endometriosis, fibroids, central precocious puberty, IVF, gender-affirming care)
Verdict at Tovani Health
Fully compatible across all indications.
Leuprolide and ketamine have no clinically significant interaction. Delivered as monthly to semi-annual depot injection across many uses: prostate cancer (with abiraterone, bicalutamide, or enzalutamide), endometriosis, uterine fibroids, central precocious puberty, IVF cycles, and as part of gender-affirming care. The intrinsic considerations — vasomotor symptoms in androgen/estrogen suppression, bone density effects with long-term use, initial testosterone or estrogen flare in the first weeks — are leuprolide-class concerns independent of KAP.
If you take Lupron regularly and are considering at-home ketamine therapy, the combination is generally safe at therapeutic doses. This page covers the brief pharmacologic context and what we do at intake.
How Lupron interacts with ketamine
Leuprolide is a synthetic GnRH agonist. Continuous (rather than pulsatile) GnRH receptor stimulation downregulates the pituitary, reducing LH and FSH output and ultimately suppressing gonadal hormone production. Peptide structure — no CYP metabolism. No interaction with ketamine.
