Verdict at Tovani Health

Fully compatible; no meaningful interaction.

Bismuth subsalicylate and ketamine have no clinically significant interaction. The salicylate component is mild and at standard OTC doses doesn't contribute meaningful anti-platelet activity. Black stools and black tongue are harmless cosmetic side effects of bismuth itself.

If you take Pepto-Bismol regularly and are considering at-home ketamine therapy, the combination is generally safe at therapeutic doses. This page covers the brief pharmacologic context and what we do at intake.

How Pepto-Bismol interacts with ketamine

What we do at intake

Continue as needed. The black tongue/stool reaction is harmless.
